Robert BobPayne Adams, 58, resident of Denver, IA, passed away unexpectedly November 17, 2008 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 22, at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, MN, with Father Ken Brenny officiating. Friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will follow services in Scandia Valley Cemetery near Lake Alexander at Cushing, MN.
Bob was born April 29, 1950 in Fargo, ND, the son of Ed and Thelma (Payne) Adams. Bob grew up in Wahpeton, ND but spent many summer days at his familys cabin on Lake Alexander. He graduated from Macalister College and did post-graduate studies at the University of Minnesota. Bob worked his entire career in the newspaper business. Bob started in the business by helping his father service linotype machines. He then became owner, publisher, and editor of the Denver, IA Forum and later the Monitor Review serving Staceyville, IA and Adams, MN. He received numerous state and national literary awards with his writings.
Bob spent most of his vacation time at Lake Alexander where he loved to fish, hunt, read, and spend time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed remodeling and doing handiwork around the cabin. He loved the peace and quiet the outdoors provided.
Bob will be greatly missed by his sister, Charlene Adams, of Eden Prairie, MN; and his brother, Kim Edward (Dee Loecher) Adams, of Jesup, IA; also many relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Ed Adams.
