Richard Simonson

Richard "Doc" Simonson, 63, of Staples died at his home on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
Services for Richard will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11:00AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, MN with Pastor Gene Floistad officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples from 5:00-7:00PM and one hour prior to services at the church.

Richard was born on February 25, 1949 in Long Prairie, MN to Leslie and Hazel (Blashack) Simonson. Richard moved from Willeston, ND to the Staples area in 1985. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, MN. Richard graduated from Browerville High School in 1967. Richard then attended Uof M-Morris and graduated from there in 1971. Richard then went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota Med School. He did his residency in Minot, ND. Richard was a member of cruisers car club, and he enjoyed tennis, softball, and playing golf. He also loved to socialize and visit with people.

Richard is survived by his mother, Hazel Simonson of Browerville, MN; children, Sarah (Ben) Ames of Otsego, MN, Chelsea (Zach) Snyder of San Diego, CA., Heidi (Dave) Zager of London, England, and Brooke Simonson of Fargo, ND; sister, Carol (Rick) Sadlemyer of Long Prairie, MN; brother, Bill Simonson of Browerville, MN; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.
