Richard Rubey

Richard J. Rubey, age 61, of Pine River, died March 8, 2007 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, March 14, at 11:00 am at the Swanburg Lutheran Church with Pastor Vern Broughton officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening form 5-7 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Cross Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Richard was born on December 4, 1945 in Brainerd, MN to Aloysius and Elizabeth (Gussey) Rubey. He grew up in the area and graduated from Pine River High School in 1964. In 1965 he began working for the Pine River School System as a bus driver and mechanic. He worked for them for the next 35 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Swanburg Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his yard.

Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara "Bobbi" Robinson; children, Shari (Larry) Curell and Scott Rubey; step children; RuthAnn Alvord and JR Robinson; grandchildren, Nichole, Emily, Ryan, Ashlyn, Braden, MacKenzie, and Eli; siblings, JoAnn Nickels of MI, Eugene Rubey of OR, Nancy Edigar of KS, Gary Rubey of the Twin Cities, Pat Rogich of the Twin Cities, Joyce Cowan of the Twin Cities, Michael Rubey of the Twin Cities, and Mark Rubey of OR, as well as many nieces nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
