Richard Korte

Richard A. Korte, 89, of Grand Rapids, died Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Essentia Health - St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, MN. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Itasca Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids.

Richard was born December 3, 1925, in St. Louis, MO the son of Joseph and Augusta (Wahlig) Korte. Following high school, Richard attended the University of Michigan and the University of St. Louis. While there he enlisted in the Navy through the ROTC program. In 1949, he married E. Rosalie Franke. The couple made their home in the Grand Rapids area, where they owned and operated North Star Resort. In addition, Richard was active in the advertising business, tourism and economic development.

Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosalie; children, Gary, of Denver, CO, Craig (Cheri), of Manheim, PA, Dennis (Bonnie), of Marcell, Virginia (Lewis), of Carlton, Eileen (Joseph) of Lakeville, Linda (Arlan), of Fulda, Mark (Pam), of Brainerd, Marianne (Duane), of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Michael (Lynn), of Rochester; siblings, Ed, Bob and Donna, all of Marthasville, MO; 25 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe; and sisters, Delores, Trudy, and Sally.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
