Richard Johnson

Richard Allan "Richie" "Rick" Johnson, age 48, of Hackensack, passed away unexpectedly in the ICU at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Brainerd, on Sunday afternoon, July 30, 2017. Richie was born in Willmar, MN, on July 16, 1969. His family moved to the Walker/Hackensack area in 1981. He was a 1988 graduate of the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School.

Richie worked at the Hackensack Municipal Liquor Store, 371 Rental for several years and most recently the Hackensack American Legion. He also mowed at the Hackensack Cemetery and had numerous other jobs. Dogs loved him and he enjoyed dog sitting.

Richie loved hunting and fishing and being out in nature. He was known as a kind, gentle soul and a good friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with friends and helping them when there was a need.

Richie is survived by parents, Richard G. and Marlys J. Johnson of Hackensack; sister, Tara Jean Johnson (Allan Berg), of the International Falls /Ray area; nephew and Godson, Cade Anthony Johnson (KariAnn) and their 2-year-old son, Ryder Elliott, of Lisbon ND; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 9, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hackensack. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
