Richard Jex

Richard “Dick” Jex, 90, of Motley, MN died Monday, April 23, 2018 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN. Services for Dick will be 11:00AM, Friday, April 27, 2018 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples with Pastor Barry Klein officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Scandia Valley Cemetery in Cushing, MN.

Richard was born September 8, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN to John and Ebba (Hordum) Jex. He was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from North High School in 1945. Dick ran a restaurant in St. Cloud for a short time. He married Rosemary Gaida on July 11, 1949 in St. Cloud, MN. They moved to Minneapolis in 1950 and were longtime residents there. Dick worked as a Lithograph Pressman at Colwell Press for 26 years. Following retirement in 1987, they wintered in Naples and summered on Lake Shamineau. Dick volunteered for the Florida State Park system, Staples Library and Lakewood Health System in the Joint Program. He was a member and Past Master of the Compass Lodge #265 in Robbinsdale, MN and volunteered at the State Fair Masonic Lodge Booth kitchen, the children’s home, and did repairs and cleaning at the Lodge.

Richard is survived by his children, Sandy (John) Koehnen of Motley, Pat (Bill) Schafer of Brooklyn Center, Bob (Kathy) Jex of St. Michael; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ebba; his wife, Rosemary on 12-13-2008 and brothers, Harry and Robert Jex. Services have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
