Richard Hanson

Richard D. Hanson, age 49, of Motley, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Lakewood Health System in Staples. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 25 at 11:00 A.M. at the Motley Free Methodist Church in Motley, Minnesota. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to the service.

Richard Dean Hanson was born on May 22, 1962 to Donald and June (Dumpprope) Hanson in Staples, Minnesota. On October 22,1983, he married Donna Fleisher at the Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader, Minnesota. Rick worked as a cattle farmer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sawing lumber, logging and antiques. He loved spending time with his family as well as going to the cabin in the foothills. His greatest joy was his children, wife, family and friends.

Rick will be missed by his wife, Donna, his parents, three children, Cody Hanson, Becky Hanson, Jesse Dejarlais, nine siblings, Jean (Steven) Dailey, Charlie (Stella), John (Sandra), Glenda (Gary) Dauer, Connie (Kenny) Winter, Peg (John) Sirucek, Dale (Deb), Leasha Clark, Larry (Laura), one grandson, Damien Dejarlais as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter Emmi Rose.
