Richard T. Dukowitz, Sr., 81, of Staples, MN, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples. Services for Richard will be at 11AM, Thursday, July 7 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, with Pastor Barry Klein officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to services. Interment with Military Honors provided by Motley American Legion Post #124 will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, MN.
Richard was born August 15, 1934 in Philbrook, MN to Theodore and Violet (Killian) Dukowitz. He entered the US Army in 1955 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1958. Richard was united in marriage to Marlene Hansen on June 25, 1960 in Philbrook, MN. They lived in St. Cloud for a short time while Richard worked at St. Cloud Granite. Richard and Marlene moved back to Staples and have lived here for the last 50 years. He worked as a mechanic/gas station attendant and retired at the age of 62. Richard enjoyed fishing, gardening, mowing his lawn, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and gathering groceries from Ernie's for the household.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Glenda (Randy) Grunwald of Staples, Richard A. Dukowitz of Wahkon, Charlene (Dan Dickey~finace) of Motley; grandchildren, Jeremy (Stacy) Dukowitz of Staples, Joshua (Shelly) Dukowitz of Verndale, Kimberly (Matthew) Hegge of Breckenridge, Kayllene Reger of Motley, Duff Brown of Fort Yates, ND, Derrick (Martha) Brown of Fort Yates, ND, Daina Brown of Rochester; great grandchildren, Gabrealle, Phaydra, Izayah, Ethan, Allison, Logan, Neomi, Xander, and Emily. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Douglas and Stacie Dukowitz; one grandson, Dackery Brown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
