Richard Cameron Sr

Richard Bruce Cameron Sr. passed away on September 9th, 2018 at CRMC Care Center. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, service following at 11:00. Interment at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.

Richard was born to Duncan J. Cameron and Lillian J. Patterson on January 14th, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in Minneapolis, but spent a lot of his summers at his Grandmother’s farm in Albertville. He attended Patrick Henry High School, graduating with the class of 1950. He attended Dunwoody College in Minneapolis and graduated with his degree in tool and dye machining. He enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and went on active duty May of 1953 for two years. He was stationed on the USS Kula Gulf aircraft carrier ship. He then went to school in Memphis to be an aviation metal smith, and after graduating worked as a plane captain running safety checks and refueling planes. After leaving the service, he worked for Honeywell for many years.

He married the love of his life on August 12, 1955 in Robbinsdale, MN. They had three children together in Plymouth, MN and moved them to their forever home in 1972 in Breezy Point, MN. He started his own business, Ricka Manufacturing, making dual wheel adaptors and fiberglass fenders. They enjoyed traveling down south every winter with their friends and family. Many fun years of desert camping, gold panning, and traveling to Mexico. He enjoyed riding his Honda three-wheeler, hooking up a trailer to give rides to his grandkids. In his later years, he enjoyed putting together puzzles, riding his three wheeled bike, watching the deer, and visiting all of his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He is survived by his wife Kathlean Cameron of 63 years; children, Terri (Jim) Spielman, David (Sue) Cameron, all of Pequot Lakes; daughter in law, Lori Cameron of Brainerd; Sisters, Mary Lou (Lacy) Gaster, Patricia Follett, all of Minneapolis; brother in law Mike (Kathee) Stanwood of Breezy Point; Grandchildren, Jessica Cameron, Ryan (Brittany) Cameron, Josh (Chelle) Cameron, Jake (Trista) Cameron, Jenny (Nole) Stay, Amanda (Jason) Sifferath, Alisha (Kyler) Beal; Step grandchildren, Erika Kohl, Caitlyn Kohl, Brittany Kohl, Alex Rohde; Great Grandchildren, Reece, Zoey, Ellie, Hayden, Weston, Becken, Gracelyn, Jaxson, Leighton, Cole, Maverick; Step great grandchildren, Blake, Savannah, Sydney, Gavin, Maddie; God Child, Monica Marolf; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by; his parents, son Richard Cameron Jr, brother in law Donald Follett. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes, MN.
