Richard Breitling

Richard J. Breitling, age 90, of Verndale, passed away at the Lakewood Health System in Staples, on January 17, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, January 25, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Nate Loer officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the church.

Richard was born to Emmanuel and Ernestine (Schmike) Breitling on October 23, 1922 in Dodge, ND. He was united in marriage to Viola Wiederrich, on July 14, 1946 in Dodge, ND. He was a self-employed farmer of 25 years, retiring from it in 1971, active at church and loved spending time with his grand kids and great grand kids. He enjoyed bowling, golf, farming, baseball and Minneapolis Moline tractors.

He is survived by Viola, his wife of 66 years; children; Lester (Diane) Breitling, Richard (Karen) Breitling; siblings Irene (Roland) Backfisch, Alma Isaak; 4 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother; daughter, Sandra and son, Daniel.
