Richard Blom, age 80, of Crosby passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. Richard will be laid to rest with a private service in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery – Little Falls, MN.
Richard Edwin Blom was born in Crosby on October 20, 1936, to Clifton and Inez (Richards) Blom. Richard graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School and later honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Richard was united in marriage to Mardell L. Oreskovich on July 21, 1962, at the Presbyterian Church in Crosby. The family lived in St. Louis Park and then on Lake George in St. Francis before returning to Crosby area in 1973. Richard worked as a foreman at Crosby Manufacturing until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, Richard and Mardell enjoyed spending winters in South Texas. Richard was a devoted Minnesota sports fan and kept busy with various projects, including his favorite, woodworking.
Richard will be remembered and missed by Mardell, his loving wife of 55 years; his sons, Brian (Priscilla) of Deerwood, Jeffrey of Deerwood, Bruce of Ironton, and Ray (Patty) of Ironton; and his sisters, Sara (David) Wostrel of Deephaven, Susan Blom of Ironton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Inez Blom and a sister, Sally.
