Rev. James Richard "Dick" Query, 80, of Brainerd was called home with the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Essentia Health/St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Services for Dick will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd, MN with Pastor Hans Anderson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be held at 3:00PM at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
Dick was born on September 25, 1932 in Sioux City, IA to Wallace and Lucille (Michael) Query. He grew up and attended high school in Estherville IA, graduating with the class of 1951. He served in the army in 1953-61. He attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated with a history degree in 1957. Dick married Prudence Heefner on December 26, 1955 in Estherville IA. In 1961, he graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN and was ordained at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Dick served at various churches throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin also serving as chaplain at the Brainerd State Hospital until retirement. While he was at his various churches he also did his Clinical training at Hazelton Treatment Center. In his leisure time he loved reading and history. Everything he did was for God and his family.
Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Prudence; children, Kevin Query of Moscow, Russia, Pam (Gene) Foley of N. Potomac, MD, Nathan (Libby) DunnQuery of Maple Plain, MN, Margaret (Brian) Bull of Twinsburg, OH, and Becca Junker and fiancée Craig Peterson of St. Cloud, MN; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn (Keith) Baker and nephew Michael of AR. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Peter Query; brother, Michael; and nieces, Linda and Barbara.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services in Baxter, MN.
