Regina “Reggie” Marie Barker, of Baxter, passed away peacefully in the bed she was born in on Monday, December 7, 2020, with her wonderful husband by her side. Mass of Christian burial took place on Friday, December 11, 2020 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Baxter. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel-Baxter.
Reggie was born to Henry and Mary (Philippi) Gau on March 03, 1925 in Pierz, Minnesota. She was united in marriage on March 11, 1977 to David Barker. Together they made a life in Brainerd. She was an Office Assistant at the state hospital, MLC in Brainerd. She and David were very involved in the AAD Shrine Oriental Band and she was a member of the "Band Aides''. They attended 100's of parades with the group and had many happy memories and friendships over the years. She was also a member of the local Post Polio group. Reggie enjoyed cooking and knitting. She knitted many chemo hats for those battling cancer and also contributed many hat and mitten sets to local mitten trees over the years. Reggie also loved feeding the birds and went through many jars of grape jelly over the years and would even vacuum up the sunflower seeds from the yard. David and Reggie spent many years after retirement traveling the United States often in their travel trailer. She was able to visit 49 states. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by David, her husband of 43 years; children Cheryl Houle of Minneapolis, Nancy (Kevin) Peterson of Baxter, Mary (Dave) Beutz of Pillager, April Barker of Brainerd, Nyreen (Tom) Pyne of Clarion, PA, Kelly Jo (Bruce) Mogensen of Brainerd, Timothy (Jennifer) Barker of Brainerd; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mary Gau, sister Armella Wahl, and brother James Gau.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to Shriners Hospitals for Children
