Rebecca Wheeler

Rebecca "Becky" Wheeler, simply known as Mrs. Claus, age 58, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at her home.

Becky was born Oct. 24, 1958, to Clinton and Emma Wheeler in Brainerd. She grew up in Nisswa and graduated from Brainerd High School. Becky never married or had children of her own. She dedicated her time and efforts to the food service industry, working at the Quarterdeck, Breezy Point and Bar Harbor. She was very active in the community. Her holiday volunteering dates back to the mid-1990s, when she began helping a local Toys for Tots drive run by area Marines. Becky was Mrs. Claus for the Christmas for Kids program, the Nisswa American Legion's children's Christmas program, the Lake Hubert Grange and most recently, at the Little People Learning Center's Christmas program. Even though she devoted so much time to the community, she recently began painting as a hobby.
Survivors include her father and step-mother, Clinton and Wilma Wheeler, Brainerd; two brothers, Eugene and Steven, both of Brainerd; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma.

A memorial service for Becky will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at Christ Community Church in Nisswa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Claus has gone to the North Pole.
