Raymond Peterson

Raymond Berdell Peterson, 83, of Crosslake, MN was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in Blue Earth, MN. Funeral services for Raymond will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Crosslake Evangelical Free Church~The Log Church in Crosslake, MN with Pastor Fred Cressman officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 3-5 PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN and one hour prior to services Monday. American Legion Crosslake Post 500, Crosslake, MN, will provide Military Honors. Interment will take place at Swanburg Cemetery in Pine River, MN.

Raymond Berdell Peterson was born on July 3, 1930 in Delavan, MN to Anton and Alma (Haneland) Peterson. He grew up and went to school in Blue Earth, MN and served his country in the Army from 1953-1955 in Korea. Raymond was united in marriage to Arlene Cassens on December 7, 1956 in Mankato, MN. Together they raised three children and farmed the family farm for over 30 years. In 1985 they moved to their vacation home in Crosslake, MN. Raymond’s faith in God and his love for his wife and family were his biggest blessings. Raymond loved to hunt with his sons, grandsons, and nephews throughout Minnesota and out West. These hunting adventures left us all with many great stories and lasting memories. He enjoyed helping his boys out at the nursery, traveling to Blue Earth to visit Lori and her family, and never missing out on a grandchild’s event or his great-granddaughter’s weekly visits. Raymond also looked forward to traveling and spending time in Arizona with his family and friends.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arlene; children, Randy (Linnea) Peterson of Crosslake, MN, Lori (Dwight) Olson of Blue Earth, MN, Steven (Laurie) Peterson of Manhattan Beach, MN; grandchildren, Brandon (Amber), Ciarra, Shai and Connor; Great grandchildren, Avery and Ashlyn; brother, David (Florence) Peterson; sisters, Evelyn Abram, Diane Schaper; sister-in-law, Marjie Peterson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Palmer Peterson, sisters, Maureen (Ora) Orth, Katherine (Wayne) Cherland, Pearl (Harry) Gresser, Adeline (Hank) Carlson, Betty (Howard) Werner, mother-in-law, Ann Cassens; father-in-law, Onnen Cassens; brothers-in-law, Jim Abram and Larry Cassens; nephews, Ronald Orth, Leroy Orth, Larry Orth, Mike Teems and Tim Weise. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
