Raymond John Midlo, of Baxter, formerly of Crosslake, passed away Monday, October 4, 2010 at Harmony House in Brainerd. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 15, 2010 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crosslake with Father Michael Patullo officiating. Friends are welcome to visit one hour prior to services. The family will have a private interment at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley. Memorials preferred to donor's choice.
Ray was born March 30, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Joseph and Anna (Rakos) Midlo. He attended DeLaSalle High School, before enlisting in the US Navy. He served his country during WWII. In 1960, he was united in marriage to Grace Katherine Stemper. The couple made their home in the Metro area where Ray worked in the grocery business and sales. He retired in 1987 and moved to their lake home in Crosslake. Ray was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Jenkins VFW. He enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. His family and friends will remember Ray as gentleman with a great sense of humor.
He will be missed by his step-children, Jack (Char) Stemper, Sallee (Jim) Birkelo, and Larry (Judy) Stemper; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Fairbanks and Lucille Invy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; his parents; two brothers and five sisters.
