Raymond Maas

Raymond Maas, age 72, of Baxter, died peacefully on October 18, 2004 at St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, Minnesota, surrounded by his beloved family. His family is eternally grateful for his generous spirit, sense of humor, honesty, integrity and kindness. Ray was born August 5, 1932 in Delano to Frances and Raymond Maas, Sr. He married Dorothy Shrode on June 21, 1950. They lived in Delano where he worked at Delano Granite Works, then in Minneapolis at Research Inc, and later at Pako Corp as a Plastics Engineer. He also managed Takor Corp, Pako?s subsidiary companies, in Delano and Maple Plain. Ray and Dorothy moved to Baxter in 1987 where he worked as plant manager of Capri Plastics/Plastics Plus until his retirement. He was the former mayor of Delano, a councilman and respected businessman. He was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church and a former Lions Club member. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, mechanic work, electronics and dancing.
Raymond is survived by Dorothy, his beloved wife of 54 years, of Baxter; three daughters, Bonnie (Bob) Groneberg, of Baxter, Janice (David) Pyles, of Minneapolis, Kathy Maas of Brooklyn Center; three granddaughters, Nicole (John) McGillis, of Deerwood, Kristen (Adam) Wittwer, of Baxter, Megan Groneberg, of Baxter; two great-grandchildren, Johnny and Bayley. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 6 ? 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
