Raymond Lucas Jr, 64, of Motley, MN died on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at his home.
Services for Raymond will be held on Friday January 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Church of Christ in Staples, MN with Pastor Barry Klein officiating and visitation on Thursday January 9, 2014 from 5-7 PM at Church of Christ in Staples, MN. Burial with Military Honors at Motley Public Cemetery.
He was born to Ray and Evelyn (Hales) Lucas on May 17, 1949 in Moorhead, MN. Raymond graduated from Fargo North High School in 1967 and then enlisted in the US Marines and served from 1967-1971, during the Vietnam era. He attended Staples Technical College after the military for Heavy Equipment Operator, and was employed by the DNR and Homecrest for many years. Raymond enjoyed hunting, reading, bowling, serving as a baseball umpire, Motley Lions member for 32 years, spending time outdoors on his hobby farm and he loved spending time with his family and nephews and nieces.
Raymond is survived by siblings, Ed (Hope) Lucas of Staples, Dennis (Nancy) Lucas of Motley, Carol (Richard) Edgerly of West Fargo, Linda Lucas of Motley, Sandy (Jim) Griebel of Delano; nieces and nephews, Richard Edgerly Jr, Carolyn (Phil) Edgerly, Tony (Amanda) Griebel, Matt (Megan) Griebel, Josh Griebel, Lance Lucas, Heidi (Brian) Smith, Jeremy Jasmer; great nieces and nephews, Christina Smith, Ashley Smith, Kaitlyn Smith, Eli Smith, Jacob Edgerly, Jace Edgerly, Lucas Edgerly, Sam Jenness and Abel Griebel. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
