Raymond Cossette

Fr. Raymond Joseph Cossette, age 86, died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society - Woodland Campus in Brainerd, MN. Father Cossette was born December 29, 1929, in Buhl, Minnesota to Philip and Anne (Beaudette) Cossette. Father Cossette attended St. Paul Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Thomas Welch on June 4, 1955.
Father Cossette served for many years in the Diocese of Duluth beginning as an Assistant Pastor at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Hibbing; as Pastor of St. Peter Church, Duluth; Superintendent of Cathedral High School, Duluth; Diocesan Superintendent of Schools and Pastor of St. John Church, Biwabik. He was the chaplain of Brainerd State Hospital for almost 20 years; his last active assignment was as Administrator of Holy Family Parish, Hillman. He retired on January 1, 1995. Fr. Cossette is survived by many family and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Church, Brainerd, MN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with Wake Prayers at Brenny Funeral Chapel, Baxter, MN and also one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at approximately 2:30 PM at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Arrangements by Brenny Funeral Chapel, Baxter, MN.
