Ray Grunewald

Ray M. Grunewald, age 76, of Motley, formely of Brainerd, passed away on March 26th, at his home. Funeral services will be Monday, March 31st, at 11:00 AM at the Oak Street Chapel in Brainerd, with Pastor Chip Avelsgaard officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:30-6:30 at the funeral home in Staples and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Motley Public Cemetery. Ray was born November 7th, 1931 to Ernest and Ethel (Martin) Grunewald of Windom, MN. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad, after being a foreman for several years, to enjoy his hobby farm. Ray is survived by his wife, Florence Flip; younguns, Georgia (Barry) Cordingly of Brainerd, Curtis (Korrine) Ayers of Nampa, ID, Phyllis (Tim) Hoyt of Brainerd, Laura (Chris) Ebnet of St. Paul, and Evelyn Becker of Brainerd; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; siblings, Norma Renczykowski of Meadowland, June Horkey of Windom, Richard (Karen) Grunewald of Jeffers, Donald Grunewald of Jeffers, and Ernest (LaRae) Grunewald of Windom; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
