Ralph C. Thunell, 75, formerly of Minneapolis, died at his Crosslake home Friday, May 28, 2004. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 1, 11 a.m., at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, with Father Dennis Hoffmann officiating. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veteran?s Cemetery in Camp Ripley, with military honors provided by the Randall VFW honor guard. Ralph Carl Thunell was born March 13, 1929 in Minneapolis, to Rudolph and Eva (Maberry) Thunell. Following high school, he graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. He served in the Navy from 1946-1948. He worked as a Finance Supervisor for Northern States Power. His first wife, Janice, died in 1980. He was united in marriage to Cynthia J. Mayhew November 16, 1984. The couple moved to Crosslake following their retirement, 17 years ago. Ralph loved his Crosslake home, which was located near land owned by his great-grandparents. He belonged to a flying club in Pine River, and owned a Cessna 172 that was his pride and joy. He spent many, many joyful hours flying.
Ralph is survived by Cynthia, his wife of 19 years; and his children, Stephanie A. Thunell, of Minneapolis, Rebecca R. (Paul) Garaffa, of Coon Rapids, and Mitchell R. Thunell, of Princeton. His parents; his first wife; and a sister, Pat Ramberg, preceded him in death.
