Ralph P. Fredrickson, age 82, of Lakeshore, died Saturday, July 26 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Ralph Philip Fredrickson was born May 23, 1921 in Faribault, to Philip and Tina (Dahl) Fredrickson. He grew up and attended school in Faribault. He earned a Bachelor?s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He served in the US Army during WWII, as a field artillery engineer in Europe. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a civil engineer for the cities of Golden Valley and Robbinsdale, and as a consulting engineer for the city of Plymouth. He was a partner in the Clark Engineering Company of Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Carol Youngquist, on April 17, 1982, in Clear Lake, Iowa. Following his retirement, they moved to Florida and summered in the Lakes Area for ten years. They moved to Lakeshore year-round five years ago. Ralph enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and golf, and he was a talented wildlife photographer. He was a member of Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd. He belonged to the Nisswa American Legion and the Robbinsdale Masonic Lodge.
Ralph is survived by his wife Carol; two sons, Eric (Barbara) Fredrickson of Backus and Alan Fredrickson of St. Paul; a daughter-in-law, Deejay Fredrickson, of Maple Grove; three grandsons: Kirk, Christian, and Thomas Fredrickson; and a granddaughter, Laura Fredrickson. His parents, two sisters, Mildred and Alice, and a brother, Oliver, preceded
Memorial services will be Thursday, July 31, 1:30 PM, at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerdr, with Reverend Rory Swenson officiating. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran?s Cemetery in Camp Ripley, with the Nisswa American Legion, Post 627 providing military honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
