Ralph W. Crose, age 88, a resident of Woodland Apartments in Brainerd, MN formerly of Crosslake, MN died Friday, February 8, 2002 at his home. Services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church with Reverend Jim Woldhuis officiating, burial will be at the Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake. Military honors will be provided by Crosslake American Legion Post #500. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 till 7 PM on Tuesday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake.
Ralph Crose was born on August 27, 1913 in Little Falls, son of the late, Phillip and Rose Crose. He was united in marriage to Bettie Colehour on January 13, 1936 in Superior, WI. He entered the United States Navy and served on the USS Benevolence, a hospital ship, during World War II. He was on the Minneapolis Fire Department for 26 years retiring as Captain. They moved to Crosslake in 1974, then to Brainerd in 2001. He was a member of the Masonic Cataract Lodge #2 AF & AM in Richfield, MN, the Pensioners Association and a charter member of the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, tying fly-fishing lures, and golfing.
Ralph Crose is survived by his wife, Bettie; 1 daughter, Connie (Dale) Erickson of Crosslake; 3 sons, Lawrence (Carol) Crose of Duluth, MN, Richard (Debra) Crose of Bloomington, MN, James (Janice) Crose of Edmund, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Barbara; 1 infant son, Charles; his parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
