Rachel Mark

Rachel Marie Mark, 74, of Baxter, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at St. Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Services for Rachel will be 2:00 PM, Monday, March 23 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Reverend Hans Anderson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 24 at St. Petrie Cemetery in Nome, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hart Animal Shelter of Brainerd, MN.
Rachel was born June 1, 1934 in Valley City, ND, the daughter of Alvin and Helene (Johnson) Johnson. After graduating from Valley City High School, Rachel attended Concordia College in Moorhead where she received a degree in Sociology. She worked for many years with Crow Wing County Social Services. Rachel enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, bingo and blackjack, and being a member of the Senior Center in Brainerd. She was a lover of animals, especially cats. She volunteered many hours at Hart Animal Shelter. Rachel was also an associate member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She will be missed by her daughters, Sharon (Alex) Hidveghy, of Las Vegas, NV and Susan (Paul) Edwards, of Kent, WA; her grandson, Jeremy Carlile; her sisters, Rosemary Johnson, of Robbinsdale, MN and Frances Stanton, of Naples, FL; and her brother, David Johnson, of TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Angela.
