Phyllis Tuomi

Phyllis Joan Tuomi was born on January 9, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Dudley and Veronica (Hogue) Wright. She was called from this life early Wednesday morning, Dec. 1, 2004, at her home at East Gull Lake, MN. She had attained the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 22 days.
She attended elementary school at St. Frances Parochial School, and then high school at Duluth Cathedral graduating in 1950. After her schooling she worked for several years for Dunn Drug Store in Brainerd. On March 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Wiljo Tuomi in Minneapolis, MN. To this union 6 children were born. Phyllis and Wiljo were able to share 51 years of marriage together, living in the East Gull Lake area. After their marriage Phyllis was a full time wife, mother, homemaker, and eventually grandmother and great grandmother. She counted this as being the blessing of her life. Among other things she enjoyed were bingo, reading, writing, and living and sharing her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Veronica; and a grandson, Alex. Phyllis is mourned in passing by her husband, Wiljo; children Roxanne Tuomi of East Gull Lake; Wiljo Jr. and his wife Anne of Brainerd, Mitch of California, Suzanne Tuomi and Jerome Luke of Baxter, Allan Tuomi and Amee Winter of Brainerd, Nathan and Mary Lee of East Gull Lake; 22 grandchildren, Jason, Allison, Joey, Josh, Scott, Jesse, Megan, Totti, Heidi, Jack, Luke, Abbie, Libby, Ava, Emmy, Abe, Sam, Sara, Jesse G., Erica, Robert, and Jared ; 9 great-grandchildren, Sam, Isabella, Savannah, Elijah, Isaac, Noah, Ryan, and MacKenzie; sister, Dolores (Robert) Smith; brothers, Richard (Shirley) Wright, Ronald Wright, Charles Wright, and Douglas (Keri Zenz) Wright.
