Phyllis King, age 79, of Pequot Lakes, died February 2, 2004 at her home. Phyllis was born on July 13, 1924 in Long Prairie to Theodore and Ruth (Bain) Nelson. She graduated from Clarissa High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Allan King Sr. on May 20, 1943 in Clarissa. They moved to Utica where she was a homemaker. She was appointed postmaster in 1964, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Utica Presbyterian Church where she was the church organist and Sunday School Superintendent. They moved to rural Pequot Lakes on Clamshell Lake where she?s been a resident until her death. She was a member of the National Federation of Retired Postal Workers. Phyllis enjoyed quilting and painting on ceramics.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Allan; daughter Cheryl (Warren) Baker of Vista, CA; sons Allan (Pat) King 11 of Rochester, Bruce King of St. Charles, and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother.
Services will be Thursday at 3 pm at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake with Reverend Ray Larson officiating with visitation 1 hour before the service. A memorial service will be held at the Utica Presbyterian church at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
