Philip Brunes, 84, formerly of Crosslake, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Pine Medical Center, Sandstone, MN. Services will be 11 AM, Saturday, February 21 with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake.
Philip Dean Brunes was born on April 11, 1924 in Pequot Lakes son of August and Beda (Dalsted) Brunes. In 1942 he entered the United States Navy. On April 14, 1945 he was united in marriage to Arline Fernlund in Watsonville, California. Following his discharge they moved to Crosslake where hes been a resident until his death. He worked for Inland Steel of Crosby/Ironton during most of his life. Philip was a charter member of Crosslake Lutheran Church; charter member of Crosslake American Legion. He enjoyed his family, the outdoors, watching wildlife, wood working, fishing and hunting.

Philip is survived by his children, Darlene Berg of Brooklyn Park, Phyllis (Robb) Jones of Crosslake, Russell Brunes of Bruno, MN; one brother, Jim Brunes of Crosslake; two sisters, Marion Anderson of California and Joyce Peterson of Minneapolis; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Arline; his parents; and two brothers, Lawrence and Art.
