Peter Trapp

Peter J. Trapp, 63, of Backus, Minn., passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, in Walker, Minn., after a lengthy battle with health issues.

Pete was born June 26, 1950, in Columbus, Wis. He was the first son of Rupert and Irene Trapp. He is survived by his son, Dan (Lyra) of Poynette; his stepchildren, Matt (Jodi) of Pardeeville, Wis., Gene (Terri) of Endeavor, and Heide (Matt) of Middleton; mother, Irene of Columbus; eight siblings, Christine (William) of Minneapolis, Minn., William (Debra) of Sheridan, Wyo., Robert (Pat) of Columbus, Ann (Cris) of Columbus, Jerome (Sarah) of Fall River, Loretta (Gail) of Windsor, Mary (Richard) of Fall River and Paul (Bobbi Jo) of Columbus, all of Wisconsin. Pete is survived by a wonderful grandson, Aiden. He had numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in his death by his father, Rupert, and his favorite dog, Bo.

Pete grew up on the family farm in rural Columbus. He went to elementary school in East Bristol, Wis., and graduated high school in Columbus, Wis. He loved working with metal and became a welder, working first for Production Enterprises, Trachte Building Systems and Mid-State Metal Building Systems before starting Metal Building Specialists, Inc. in 1981, erecting buildings across the Midwest for more than 13 years. Pete then moved his business north in 1996 to Pine River, Minn., and started Pete Trapp Structures, specializing in building a wide range of post frame metal buildings as a general contractor.

Pete was an avid outdoorsman, always enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dog, Bo, as a constant companion. He enjoyed going to auctions, rummage sales, country dancing and Friday fish fries. Pete liked to visit and talk with friends and family every chance he had. He will be missed by all.

A celebration of life and memorial service was held by the family at the Hampden Town Hall in Columbus, Wisconsin on Sept. 21, 2013.
