Perry Putnam, Sr.

November 17, 1932 — June 26, 2017

Perry Dwane Putnam, Sr., 84, of Baxter, unexpectedly passed away on June 26, 2017 at his home.

Perry was born at Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis to Perry and Bessie Putnam on November 17, 1932. He married Beverly Virginia Black on September 4, 1953 in Minneapolis. He worked as a machinist/toolmaker/unit manager for Honeywell for 36 years. He was a proud Marine. He was a Mason at Minnehaha Lodge, #165 in which he served as Master; Zuhrah Shriner; and Scottish Rite. Perry was also an avid year-round sportsman who loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and sport shooting. He also loved to golf and was an award winning woodcarver.

Perry is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Kim (David) Wightman, Dawn Weitzel, Scott Putnam, Perry D. Putnam, Jr., and Brenda (Clair) Guenther; sisters, Barbara (Richard) Wennerlof, and Mary Jo (George) Stage; brother, Richard; grandchildren, Jason (Renee) Putnam, Amanda (Jerry) Ramey, Sara Glendenning, Adam (Jessica) Weitzel, Aaron (Alicia) Weitzel, Ashley Weitzel, Stephane (James) Olson, Carolyn Putnam, Perry E. Putnam, and Will Wightman; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Bessie Putnam; brothers, Larry Don, Larry, Roger, and Dale; sister, Joyce Novak; and grandson, Brett Putnam.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Garrison. The Reverend Juli Sutton-Deem will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. Private burial will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Light of the Cross Lutheran Church.
