Pearl Baker

February 4, 1928 — November 29, 2016

Pearl Anita Baker, 88, of Minneapolis, peacefully passed away in her home on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Apostolic Faith Church ~ 2900 29th Avenue South, Mpls. Family and friends are invited to join during the hour prior to services. Interment will be Tuesday, December 13, 1 PM, at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Pearl was born February 4, 1928, in St. Paul, the daughter of James Charles and Esther Mabel (Swenson) Baker. After completing her education, Pearl went to work for the U.S. State Department, at the age of 23. Her career took her to Germany, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Singapore. After forty years, Pearl retired in Minneapolis, where she filled her life with many hobbies and the loving companionship of family and friends. She enjoyed afternoon tea, conversations about world events, luncheons with the Daughters of American Revolution and membership in the Mayflower Society. Pearl never lost her high school spirit, always cheering for the Staples Cardinals.

Pearl will be missed by her siblings, Bonita Baker, of Minneapolis, John Baker, of Minneapolis, and Dave Baker, of Culver City, CA; her sister-in-law, Donna Baker, of Clackamas Oregon; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Beulah and Ben.
