Paul Francis Dullum of Pequot Lakes was born in Brainerd on Dec. 4, 1935, to Martin and Florence (Chermak) Dullum, and passed away peacefully June 20, 2013, after a battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife and children.
Visitation will be held at Kline Funeral home in Pequot Lakes Sunday, June 23, from 6-8 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Paul's funeral will be 11 AM on Monday, June 24, at St. Alice Catholic Church, Pequot Lakes. Burial will be at the Willow Creek Brethren Cemetery in Leola, SD.
Paul was part owner in a gravel pit, served in the US Army, was a Standard Oil distributor, custom harvester, Breezy Point road maintenance worker, and finished his working career with Anderson Brothers. Paul spent 37 years as a volunteer fireman in Nisswa and Pequot Lakes. If you skated at the Pequot hockey rink in the 1980's, you skated on Paul's ice. He was on the board of Sibley Terrace, volunteered at the Lakes Area Food Shelf and also drove the Pequot Senior van.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, boating, waterskiing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, plowing snow, canoeing, and visiting his children and grandchildren. He loved going "South" for the wild rice soup. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge of nature with anyone who would listen. He liked going to coffee with his friends in the morning. He was very patient whenever he was teaching someone something new, for example, how to put a minnow or worm on a hook, how to filet a fish, or tying a knot.
Paul is survived by his wife, Pat (Heagley); his children: Chris Dullum (Shauna), Gallatin Gateway, MT, Kathryn Lister (Tony), Amherst, NY, Jon Dullum (JoAnn), Belt, MT, Laura Siefkes (Ryan), Aberdeen, SD, Martin Dullum (Jen) Eagan, MN, and Jane Dullum, Hopkins, MN; 8 grandchildren; brothers: Jim (Shirley) Dullum, Nisswa, Ted (the late Mary) Dullum, Nisswa; sister, Mary (Ron) Jelmo, Richfield, MN.
