Patricia “Nina” Hoffman Pappas passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at home on Thursday, March 23, 2017. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, March 29, at 12:30 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Visitation will be during the hour preceding services. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Pierz.
Patricia Hoffman Pappas was born September 4, 1932 in Bedford, Ohio, the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Schraut) Kleinschmidt, Sr. She was raised in Little Falls. She also lived in Genola and Pierz, eventually settling in the Brainerd Lakes area for the past 46 years. She was united in marriage to Ervin Hoffman, and was widowed when Ervin passed away in 1981. She was later married to Peter Pappas. She worked at Brainerd Regional Human Services Center and at Crestliner Boats. An active member and sponsor in AA, she celebrated 46 years of sobriety. Over the years, she spent much of her time helping countless family members and friends, daily sharing her faith, hope, and love in her Savior, Jesus Christ. She also volunteered at the Brainerd Senior Center. She was very artistic and creative, and enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed camping and fishing. Above all, her family meant the world to her.
She will be remembered and missed by her children, Catherine (David) Boser, of Plymouth, Cindy (Bruce) Austin, of St. Joseph, Kevin (Becka) Hoffman, of Crosslake, and Kim (David) Leaf, of Kent, Washington; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Renee (Bruce) Erickson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a sister, Betty; two brothers, Edward Jr. and George; and a nephew, Russell. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
Visitation one hour prior to services. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Pierz.
