Patricia (Pat) Olstad, age 81 of Staples, died Thursday, October 24, 2013 at White Pine Senior Living in Cottage Grove, MN after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Patricia Ann Sadusky was born on March 29, 1932 in Staples to Mildred (Nurnberger) and Sylvester Sadusky. She grew up in Staples, attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Staples High School in 1950. On June 5, 1954 she married Douglas Olstad at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. They lived in Minneapolis, then moved to Staples and raised their family. Pat worked for the Staples Veterinary Clinic for many years doing bookwork. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Pat really loved nature, wildlife, gardening, and enjoyed living at her childhood home by Hayden Lake.
She is survived by daughters, Debra (Don) Lindstedt of St Paul, MN, and Jennifer (Derek) Holst, of Staples, MN; son, Steven (Cindy) Olstad of Bloomington, MN; sister, Gladys (Dale) Sorensen of Bloomington, MN, brother, Michael (Char) Sadusky of Holiday, FL; along with four grandchildren, Sara, Ryan, Mark, and Karina (Jeff); one great granddaughter, Shelby; four step grandchildren & families, and many nieces and nephews & families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug and her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Joe Korf officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. A private burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples. Memorials to go to the Alzheimer's Association.
