Pastor Orr

Pastor Todd Orr, 53, of Staples, MN passed away at his home on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Funeral services for Todd will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Nazarene Church in Hewitt, with Pastor Paul Haddix officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7PM, Tuesday, February 28 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN.

Todd was born March 2, 1963 in La Mesa, CA to Harold and Betty (Loescher) Orr. He grew up in Brook Park, MN and graduated from Staples High School in 1981. He entered the US Coast Guard and served for 4 years. After his Honorable Discharge, he came back to Staples. Todd and Julie Montgomery were united in marriage June 28, 1986 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples. He worked at the Cardinal Café as a cook and Louis Kemp in Motley. Todd studied to become a pastor and became ordained in August 2016. He was the Associate Pastor at Nazarene Church in Hewitt. Todd recently was called to be the full time Pastor at Friendship Church of the Nazarene in Mora, MN. He enjoyed photography, fishing, making videos, spending time with family and friends, and road trips-especially when it was storming.

Todd is survived by his wife, Julie of 30 years; mother, Betty Rike; brother, Scott Orr of Riverton, WY; sister, Theresa Blazka of Oregon; step brother, Glen (Brenda) Rike of Pine City; mother in law, Margaret Montgomery; sisters in law, Judy (Doug) Zimmerman; Jody (Todd) Johnson, Peggy (Tim) Leyh, Trish (Dave Winter) Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Orr; grandfathers, Orville Loescher and Elmer Orr; father in law, Ronald Montgomery; sister in law, Tammy Stahl. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
