Pamela Lowry, 57, of Bucyrus, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on August 31, 2024, surrounded by the love and presence of her husband, Dwight Lowry. Pam's final months and days were marked by the compassionate care provided by the Crossroads Hospice team of Kansas City, with special thanks to Cathy and Jennifer, whose relentless dedication and friendship immeasurably assisted both Pam and family.
Born on November 26, 1966, in Langdon, North Dakota, to the late Pat "Clare" Schuler and Yvonne Ann (Hell) Schuler, Pam grew up in a close-knit family, a cherished sister to her brothers Larry, Bill (Ann), and Greg (Lori), and sisters Patty (Tony) and Tamara (Todd).
Pam was a beloved wife, sister, and aunt, known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others. She met the love of her life, Dwight, while working at Friendship Village, an ICF/MR supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Their connection blossomed into a beautiful partnership, and on July 17, 1999, Pam and Dwight were married, a union that brought endless joy to both their lives.
Pam’s early life was earmarked by activity. She was a participant in 4-H, where she developed her leadership and community service skills. In high school, Pam played basketball and volleyball, enjoying the camaraderie and collaboration from both sports. She also served as a cheerleader, bringing her vibrant spirit and enthusiasm to every game. These activities were a reflection of Pam’s lifelong dedication to teamwork, positivity, and helping others.
In addition to being a dedicated professional, Pam was a wonderful friend to many. She was known for her devotion, care, and her radiant, beautiful smile, which could light up any room. She enriched the lives of everyone she encountered with her genuine kindness and unwavering support.
A lifelong advocate for individuals with disabilities, Pam pursued higher education to equip herself for a career dedicated to serving others. She earned her Bachelor of Science from North Dakota State University and later received her Master of Science in Administration (MSA) from Central Michigan University.
Pam's professional journey spanned over 25 years, during which she touched countless lives through her work in program development, quality assurance, and community outreach. From her role as Health Facility Surveyor for the State of Kansas to her leadership positions at United Cerebral Palsy, Bethesda Lutheran Communities, Foundation Workshop Inc., and Friendship, Inc., Pam exemplified compassion and dedication. She was passionate about empowering people with disabilities and helping them lead fulfilling, independent lives. A steadfast friend to the forgotten, a defender of the weak, and a relentless champion of justice for those who had been wronged, Pam stood as a beacon of hope for the voiceless. Her unwavering commitment ensured that no one was left behind or exploited.
Pam's remarkable career was a reflection of her deep empathy and desire to improve the lives of others, particularly those most in need of support and guidance. Her legacy of love, service, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Pamela is survived by her loving husband, Dwight, her brothers Larry, Bill (Ann), and Greg (Lori), and her sisters Patty (Tony) and Tamara (Todd). Her parents preceded her in death, with Yvonne passing on January 14, 2023, and Pat on August 8, 2020. Pam also leaves behind a legacy of compassion and commitment through her work, impacting communities and individuals she served throughout her life.
