Owen Britton

Owen Elwood Britton, 94, passed away Tuesday morning, August 31, 2010 at Lakewood Health System in Staples, MN.

Owen was born October 16, 1915 to William and Grace Britton in Kathio Township in Mille Lacs County. On September 9, 1949 he married Fern Lasher in Webster, SD. They raised five children together.

Owen worked at the Croft Mines in Crosby, MN and as a logger in Northern Minnesota in the early years. Owen also was a road maintenance operator for the township of Oak Lawn for many years before retiring.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fern; son, Kevin; daughter, Elaine; granddaughter, Tara; brothers, Lloyd and Robert; and sisters, Lottie Cooley, Ruby Schmolke, and Bertha Hoskins.

Owen in survived by a son, Owen Jr., of Brainerd; daughters, Cathy (Judson) Murray, of Brainerd and Jackie Ramsdell, of Brainerd; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Pastor Bob Twiton officiating. Friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services and to stay for a reception following in Brenny Funeral Chapels Reception Room. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brainerd.
