Oscar Kindvall

Oscar “Jim” James Kindvall, age 83, passed away peacefully at Essentia Health, St. Joseph’s on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Memorial services will be Monday, April 17, 11 am, at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Oscar was born July 21, 1933 in Minneapolis, the son of Oscar and Anna Kindvall. He grew up in the Minneapolis area, and graduated from South High School. He was an avid trumpet player and enjoyed participating in band during his school years. He was united in marriage to Grace Hempel, his loving wife of 62 years, in Minneapolis, on August 20, 1954. He worked in the parts department at Minar Ford for thirty years. He loved German Shepherds, enjoyed music, boating, fishing, and camping. Above all, Oscar treasured spending time with family and friends.

He will be remembered and missed by his wife, Grace (Hempel); his children, Ed (Lori) Kindvall, Cindy (John) Bagley, and Ken (Michelle) Kindvall; his grandchildren, Mathew, Joseph, Eric, Ryan, Ryan Haywood, Amanda, Andrew, and Lauren; several great-grandchildren; and his sister, Alice Parson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Irene and Esther. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
