Orville M. Robinson, 83, of Baxter, died Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Excelsior Place in Baxter. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church (6190 Fairview Road, Baxter, MN). Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Private Interment with Military Honors will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Orville Marvin Robinson was born November 25, 1931, in Northfield, MN, the son of Ralph and Dorothy (Simning) Robinson. After graduating from high school, Orville enlisted in the Army in 1949 and served for 12 years and received two Purple Hearts during the Korean conflict. He returned to Minneapolis. He worked as an electronics technician for more than 33 years. In 1963, he married Dorothy Ann Schrader. The couple raised three children. A Lutheran, Orville was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran in Northfield and Lord of Life in Baxter. He was honored by his service in the military and maintained a lifelong membership in the DAV and Rosemount VFW, Post #9433 where he served as Post Commander and Quartermaster for 20 years. Orv was active volunteer in the VFW Post #1647 in Baxter.
Orville enjoyed golfing, hiking, and camping.
He will be missed by his children, Phillip (Lorraine) Robinson, of Leesburg, VA, Daniel Robinson, of Elk River, and Pamela Robinson, of Elk River; grandchildren, David, Cynthia, Nicole and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Laynie, and Alessandra; brother, David Robinson (Mary), sister-in-laws Joanne Lang and
LaVonne Robinson, nieces and nephews, and his special friend, Marvella Larson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents; brothers, Eugene, Mike, Roger and Burt; sisters, Shirley and Doris.
