Orville J. Hazuka, age 73, of Brainerd died Monday, November 12, 2001 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd on Friday, November 16, at 11:00 AM, with Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit on Thursday, November 15 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter from 4-8:00 PM, with parish prayers at 7:00 PM. Friends may also call for one hour prior to the service on Friday, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
Orville Jerome Hazuka was born on April 1, 1928 in Becker Township, Cass County, to Frank J. and Melvina (Quade) Hazuka. He grew up in the Motley area and graduated from Motley High School. He was married to Goldie Chambers, his wife of 53 years, on January 5, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. The couple farmed in Becker Township. Orville worked at the Burlington Northern paint shop, and then went to work for Potlatch. He worked in Mechanical Services for 32 years, until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, belonged to the Brainerd Eagles, was a representative for the Trades and Labor Union, Local #79, and volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Orville is survived by his wife, Goldie; 2 daughters, Lana (Jerry) Miller of Cohasset, and Linda (Kent) Regelin of Little Falls; a son, Dean (Heidi) Hazuka of Marion, MT; a brother, Gerald Hazuka of Hamilton, MT; and 5 grandchildren, Troy, Dawn, Chad & Stacy Imgrund and Melissa Miller. His parents, a sister, Frances Ackerson, and a grandson, Jeremy Miller, preceded him in death.
