Orris was born to Anton and Inga (Ring) Rodahl on September 2, 1947 in Thief River Falls, MN. He grew up on the family farm in Holt, MN and attended Newfolden High School. After school, Orris entered the Army and proudly served his county in Korea and Germany from 1966 - 1969. Orris married the love of his life, Francine (Lotzer) Rodahl on September 26, 1970. Orris and Fran moved to Brainerd in 1972 where they started Independent Petroleum Services and raised their four children.
Orris enjoyed time with friends, family, and his dogs. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed camping, traveling, snowmobiling, boating, and doing karaoke with his wife of over 50 years. He was an active member in the community volunteering at the Catholic communities of St. Andrews, St. Francis, and All Saints, a member of the Baxter Snowmobile Club, Chamber, Legion, VFW, and the retired military group. He enjoyed playing Santa in the community for many years. Orris will forever be remembered for his faith, love of God, country, and family; his bounding optimism and the amazing ability to light up any room he entered. Orris was a one-of-a-kind simple guy and will be greatly missed by many who enjoyed his jolly laugh, great smile, and sayings such as “We are truly blessed.”
He is survived by his wife Fran, children Chrissy, Burnsville, MN, Mike (Michelle) Brainerd, MN, Lori Ann (Karl), Blaine, MN, Andy, Brainerd, MN; brother Maurice, Brainerd, MN; sister Mary Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN; and grandchildren: Sam, Ari, Emma, Christian, Sophia, Hannah, Eli, and Evan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen Houman, niece Vicki Hirte and nephew Bobbie Mack.
