Orlyn Steffen

Orlyn Gene Steffen, age 79, of Pine River, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, at his home. He was born to Elmer and JoHannah Steffen on January 14, 1933, in Gillette Grove, Iowa. Orlyn joined the Navy in 1952 and served aboard a cruiser in the Korean conflict, then aboard the submarine USS ODAX the last three years of his service. He married Myra Blum in 1954, and they raised six children. Orlyn loved the outdoors and enjoyed trapping, fishing and hunting all of his life. He could fix anything and was a true jack-of-all-trades. He loved his family and was a good provider, always putting them first. His family will miss his jokes and wit, but most of all, his love.

Orlyn is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Myra; children: Shawn Siefert (Tim), Cliff Steffen (Sarah), Shelly Gambrell (Bruce), Jim Steffen (Lorraine), Dean Steffen (Sandy), Shannon Steffen; 26 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The last few weeks of his life were spent with all of his loving family around him at home, celebrating the memories of his life. No services will be held.
