Norbert Bzoskie, age 83, of Crosslake, died Saturday at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake with Father Dennis Hoffman officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Pinewood Cemetery at Crosslake. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Diabetes Association preferred. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM Tuesday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake.
Norbert Harold Bzoskie was born on Feb. 21, 1922, in Claremont, MN, the son of Martin and Mary Jane (Murray) Bzoskie. He was called from this life Saturday, October 8, 2005, at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd.
Norbert graduated from Johnson High School in St. Paul. After his schooling he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force becoming a pilot flying with the famous ?Flying Tigers? during World War II. Returning to St. Paul after his discharge from the Army Air Force he began working as a machinist. In 1960 he purchased the Fleet Supply and Machine Company. He owned and operated the company until 1982 when he sold it and retired. On April 19, 1944, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Beste in St. Paul. The family summered in the Crosslake area beginning in 1972 and moved to the area permanently after they sold their business. Norbert enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hunt, fish, and ski, both downhill and ski jumping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mary Jane; wife, Dorothy on Feb. 11, 1999; a sister, Geraldine Nelson; and a brother, Orville Bzoskie. Norbert is mourned in passing by his children, Mary Ellen (Jim) Schiltgen of Forest Lake, Thomas (Joyce) Bzoskie of Crosslake, and Suzanne O?Connell of Crosslake; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Gehlsen of White Bear Lake. He will also be sadly missed by his devoted dog Tilly.
