Norbert Ackerman

Norbert John Ackerman passed away on July 26, 2020 at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Brainerd. He was born on April 26, 1923 at home in Walden Township, Cass County Minnesota, to Ben and Anna (Ruhl) Ackerman. He was the youngest of three children. Norbert served in the US Navy during WWII from January 1943 to February of 1946. He married Geraldine Sechser on October 14, 1946. Norbert was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and lived his faith daily. He valued family and will be remembered for his sense of humor, his whistling and singing, and his woodworking skills. He will be greatly missed.

Norbert is survived by 10 children: Mary Rohr of Bertha, Janice (John) Zientara of N. St. Paul, Norbert (Kathy) Ackerman of Bovey, Thomas (Judy) Ackerman of Pine River, Roger (Kathy) Ackerman of Little Falls, Diane (Doug) Zaske of Pine River, Susan Abbott of Oakdale, Michael (Merrilee) Ackerman of Pequot Lakes, Jerilynn  Munson of Clarissa and Robert (Jill) Ackerman of Pine River; 48 grandchildren, 91 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; sister, Ruth; brother, Bernard; and son-in-law, Tom Rohr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM on Friday, July 31 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River.
