Nils ?Holger? Petrusson, 78, of Brainerd died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at St. Cloud Hospital. He was born March 30, 1924 in Varmland, Sweden, to Birger and Gerda (Nilsson) Petrusson. He grew up in Sweden, and served as a border guard in the Swedish Army during WWII. In 1949, at the age of 25, he came to America and lived in Minneapolis. He was married to Elsie Elvig on October 10, 1950 in Minneapolis. He worked as a carpenter for Kullberg Manufacturing and Siwek Lumber. He moved to Brainerd in 1982 following his marriage to Nancy Wold. He worked for Kampman?s and also did private construction jobs. Although he ?retired? in 1993, he continued to work on various projects. He enjoyed hunting deer and moose, fishing in Canada, and travel. throughout the United States and around the world. He had visited the Scandinavian countries. He liked dogs, particularly German Shepherds, which he had trained while in the Swedish Army.
Holger Petrussen is survived by his wife Nancy; two daughters Carin (Donald) Archer of Minneapolis and Anita (Al) Anderson of Coon Rapids; three stepdaughters Gayle (Roy) Johnson of Brainerd, Cheryl (Gary) Houde of Champlin, and Laurie (Tom) Ahlgril of Breezy Point; a son Ron Petrusson of Vadnais Heights; two stepsons Earl Cooley of Cloquet and Steven (Karen) Cooley of Crookston; two brothers Sven Petrusson of Deerwood and Erik Petrusson of New Brighton; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and Elsie Elvig, the mother of his children.
Memorial services will be Monday, February 10, 11:00 AM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, with Reverend Robert Twiton officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are by Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
