Nathan Henry Gilow, son of Jane and Hank, brother of Luke and Sam, passed away at St. Cloud Hospital on March 29, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd, MN at 11:00AM. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Pastor Justin Halbersma will officiate. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Nathan was born in Oshkosh, WI on November 29, 1983. He graduated from Mankato West High School in 2002. In 2006 he graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a major in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy. Nathan loved the outdoors. His many activities included fishing, bicycling, snowboarding, and long nature walks. He was also an enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan. After college graduation, Nathan worked extensively in group homes helping others. He really enjoyed his work. Nathan was always willing to lend a helping hand or tell a good story. He was a loving son, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all whose life he touched.
Nathan is survived by his mom, Jane (Piehl) Gilow of Brainerd; dad, Henry “Hank” Gilow of Mankato; brother of Luke R. Gilow and Samuel J. Gilow of Brainerd; his special friend, Hollie Woitas and her daughters, Emma and Ava Kroenke; aunts and uncles, Susan (Dennis) Langer, John (Susan) Piehl, Judy Berg, Diana (Gary) Giombetti, and Sandi Stearns; cousins, Christa (Laun) Chau, Matthew Piehl, Katie Piehl, Amy (Travis) Haskell, Sarah (Bryan) Martinka, Tony Giombetti, and Kyle Stearns; and his many friends and extended family members. Nathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Joyce (Gennrich) Gilow and Roger and Harriet (Drummond) Piehl.
