Nathalie Swann passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Senior Class Care in Nisswa. Mrs. Swann was 91 years old. Nathalie was born to George and Marjorie Kampmann on November 27, 1920 in Brainerd, MN. She graduated from Brainerd High School. On June 23, 1941 she married Thomas W. Swann of Crosslake, MN. Thomas served in the Army Air Force during World War II. The couple then made Crosslake their home for almost 50 years. Together they were instrumental in building and owning five different businesses in Crosslake and one in Brainerd. Their most successful business was Beachcombers - a clothing and gift store in Crosslake. Nathalie was a founding member of the Crosslake Historical Society and an active member of the Crow Wing County Historical Society. She never tired of volunteering to serve her friends and community. She was a cherished mother, grandmother and friend. Tom and Nat retired and moved to Las Vegas where they lived from almost 20 years.
Nathalie is survived by her brother, Thomas Kampmann of Santa Rosa, CA; son, Anthony, of Bemidji; daughter, Mary Lee (Richard) Engstrom, of Pequot Lakes; daughter, Lisa; five grandchildren, Monte Swann, Cyrus Swann, Elias Swan, Sunnie (Engstrom) Hering, and Dustin Engstrom; and three great-grandchildren. Her husband, Thomas preceded her in death.
There will be a memorial gathering Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 1-3 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes. Nathalie will be interred next to Thomas at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Boulder, NV.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes.
