Naomi Vredenburg

September 2, 1953 — October 15, 2015

Naomi Elizabeth Vredenburg, age 62 , died at home on October 15, 2015 surrounded by family after a courageous 4 ½ year battle with Primary Peritoneal Cancer.

Naomi was born September 2, 1953, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Naomi has lived most of her life in Minnesota. Naomi worked at the Backus Public School for several years. In 2000 Naomi started working for Cass County Health, Human, and Veteran's Services as an Accounting Tech before finally retiring in 2013. Naomi was an active member in her Church, Backus Church of the Nazarene. In the past, she had been a Wednesday night Teen Group Leader, Sunday school teacher for many different ages, and has taught Women's Bible Study for the past 13 years. She loved the Word of God, reading, the great outdoors; she had a very adventurous spirit, and tried to live each and every day with eternity in mind. Naomi's children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved spending time at our cabin in Northern Minnesota, kayaking, canoeing, four-wheeling, hiking or just hanging out with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Dale; daughter, Rachel Rudquist(Todd) of Menahga, son, Jeremy Vredenburg (Tanya) of Backus, son Justin Vredenburg of Backus; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and six brothers. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Earle and Arlene Duame.

A special thank you to family and friends who brought food, flowers, and cards and to the good care from the hospice nurses at Good Samaritan Society.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am and until the 11:00 am funeral service on Saturday, October 24, at the Church of the Nazarene in Backus, Minnesota. A reception will follow. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend and celebrate Naomi's life.
