Nancy C. (Hines) Rees; born on March 21, 1941, to Cleo and Norinne Hines. She was raised in Des Moines, Iowa and has now crossed over to the sunny side of the fence on April 5th, 2023, at the age of 82, where the grass is always green and never needs mowed. She will be missed by many.
Nancy is survived by Kent, her husband of 61 years. They started their matrimony in Des Moines, IA progressing to Philadelphia, PA and on to Fond du Lac, WI then to St. Paul, MN until retirement when they moved to Emily, MN. She was a foundation of their love and growth of their family. Her help and understanding provided for continuous growth that goes beyond understanding and compassion. Nancy was also a corner stone in helping Kent obtain an undergraduate and graduate degrees.
She is survived by her children Scott Rees of Prior Lake, MN and (wife Denise) and Carol (Rees) Alger of Stanchfield, MN and Craig Rees of Mpls, MN (wife Patty) and her brother John Hines of West Des Moines, IA. Her 3 grandchildren; Shelby Anderson – Alger (husband Noah) Ashley (Alger) Sivertsen (husband Nick) and Cameron Alger. Her 9 great grandchildren Hayden, Violet, Marley, Elliot, Tristan, Eliza, Micha, Nolan, and Ian.
In her retirement years she loved the outdoors and gardening. Quilting became a passion for which she had extraordinary talent. She made special quilts for each of the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also made seasonal wall hangings. The details in her quilts are astounding.
After retiring she spent a lot of her time volunteering. She volunteered as an AARP Tax Aide, Central Minnesota Council on aging, and Screen Porch Productions. Nancy was also the treasurer for both the Community Care-n-Share Café and Outing Seniors. She was always busy.
As cremation has been pre-selected for Nancy. The family will be holding a celebration of life at a future date.
