Nancy L. (Slough) Lee, returned to her Lord and Savior on September 27, 2013 after a three year battle with cancer.
Nancy was born September 25, 1936 to James and Lenora Slough near Bemidji. She grew up in the Bemidji area and graduated from Bemidji High School before she moved to Illinois. In Illinois she met and married Richard Freye and raised her family of 4.
In 1981, she moved back to Bemidji and worked for The Beltrami County Nursing Service until her retirement when she helped at Northwoods Interfaith. Nancy married Robert Lee, Jr. on June 16, 1990 and moved to Wilton where she lived until her death.
Nancy was an avid collector, who loved entertaining the elderly and shut-ins with music and laughter. She also loved spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Bob Lee; children, Connie Suratt, Tim (Tammy) Freye, Richard Steven Freye, Michael Freye; brothers, James D. Slough, Tom Slough, John (Cindy) Kingsbury; grandchildren, Amanda Gamble, Zachary (Trisha) Suratt, Cassandra Suratt, Jeremiah (Andrea) Freye, Tim (Amy) Freye, Colt Freye, Heidi (Jordan) Beberg; and seven great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Ralph Kingsbury; brother, Gene Kingsbury; grandson, Nicholas Suratt; and her first husband, Richard Freye.
Services will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church (Anne Street) in Bemidji on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome to gather starting at 11:30 AM and to stay for a luncheon to follow the services.
