Nancy Krecklau

March 7, 1935 — March 24, 2009

Nancy Jean Elizabeth Krecklau, age 74, of Pine River, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at her home in Blind Lake Township. She was born March 7, 1935to Harvey and Hattie Chyrklund in Minneapolis where she spent her childhood. Nancy met Orville Krecklau on a blind date in January 1952 while he was on leave from the army. It was love at first sight and they were married on April 5, 1952. They were together until his death on December 5, 2006.
Nancy's father passed away suddenly when she was a young girl, so she treasured her special memories of him. Her mother later married Walter Pieters and as they grew older, Nancy spent time with them in their home and opened up her home to them.
As a young woman she enjoyed spending time with her close friends, going to plays and movies, writing and reading stories to her children, and later to her grandchildren, and also for her own pleasure. Her story "A Blessed Night" was published in Highlights For Children magazine in December 1966. Later she was active in the Pine River Art Club, always striving to learn new techniques and a variety of mediums. She enjoyed painting with her brother, Dick, and put a special touch into each Christmas card she painted for family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Debra Standly (Mark) of Farmington; sons: Randall Krecklau (Mary) and Joey Krecklau (Jonni), both of Pine River; grandchildren: Jennifer, Karynne, Andrew, Joshua, Sylvia, Ethan, Daniel, Lydia, Henry, Kimberly, and Constance; great grandchildren: Courtney, Logan, Gaige, Landon, Collin, Teagan Elizabeth, Thorin, Odin, Mia Nicole; sisters-in-law: Rose Chyrklund of Minneapolis, Donna Corry (Murray) of Florida; many nieces and nephews; former daughter-in-law, Ella Krecklau; and faithful companion, their dog, Boz.
Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, March 28 at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Burial will follow at Wabedo Cemetery, rural Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
